Sensi / Alarms
Alarm monitoring that tells the right people
Sensi checks every reading against its normal and trip limits. When something goes wrong it raises an alarm, emails the people responsible, and emails again when it is back to normal.
How alarms work
- Warnings when a reading leaves its normal range, critical alarms when it passes a trip limit
- An open alarm is updated rather than repeated, so a value hovering on a limit does not flood your inbox
- Equipment in maintenance raises no new alarms
- Alert rules decide who is emailed and for which severities
- Every alarm can be acknowledged, and every email is logged
Fewer surprises
Alarm history sits next to the historian, so you can see exactly what led up to a trip. Over time, patterns show which equipment needs attention before it fails again.
Common questions
Who receives alarm emails?
Project admins set up alert rules with a list of recipients and the lowest severity each rule should send, for example only critical and high alarms to the on call engineer.
Will I get flooded with emails?
No. Sensi updates an open alarm rather than creating a new one, and a reading that settles back to normal and trips again within a few minutes reopens the same alarm.
